Update on the Lutzes….

Dear Family and Friends,
This picture of my dad and me is from last October.  He died peacefully and went to be with the Lord on June 16, right before Father’s Day.  Our entire family was able to travel to his hometown of Lewisburg, Ohio, for his memorial service on June 27.  Dad was 90 years old, and he and Mom celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary back in May.  He lived a long, full life, and we gave thanks to the Lord for all that he meant to us.  It was the hardest funeral I ever conducted, but to stand on Christ Jesus, the Solid Rock of Ages, and the promises of His word, comforted me greatly.  My mother is doing well, and our family bonds are stronger than ever.  Jesus is the Resurrection and Life.
It’s been a time of transition in other ways also for our family.  We sold our house in Georgia and have just moved to New Port Richey, Florida, as our new home.  We are currently staying at my sister and brother-in-law’s house before moving into our own place, and I am applying for “tent-making” work to make ends meet.  The fact that we have come to Florida on a one-way ticket hasn’t yet sunk in!
As soon as the dust settles I’ll be heading down to Haiti.  I was so grateful to have two days to spend with Pastor Georges Cadet early in June while he was visiting the U.S.  Pastor Georges will be the coordinator of our new MINTS study center in his home town of Bohoc, in north-central Haiti.  We developed a good plan of attack to organize the Study Center Committee and register our first group of students.  God has already put on our hearts the vision to multiply study centers throughout the northern part of Haiti.  This fine young pastor will be a real asset in the theological training of pastors, and he will be able to work on his master’s degree through MINTS at the same time.  I have adopted another son!  Here’s a picture of us in his home church with Pastor Jean Paul (center) when we led a seminar there.
Please continue to pray for us as we begin ministering from our new home base!
  • Thanksgiving for my father’s life and our family time at his home-going, for our safe relocation to Florida, and for all the love and support of family and friends and churches during this huge transition time in our lives.
  • Supplication for a new church home, school for Joseph, jobs for Cheryl and me, housing, new ministry opportunities, and my trip to Haiti this summer.
God bless you and keep you in Christ Jesus!  We thank Him for your partnering in this mission of “equipping the saints for the work of ministry”!
