Greasy Hair & A Gracious God

ImageI sat there feeling so mortified as the nurse brushed my hair. All I could think about was how grossed out she must have felt, once she realized that all she was brushing was grease. Yes, friends,I humbly admit that after one day of not being washed, my hair gets greasy.
What I thought was going to be a one or two-night stay in the hospital after having my thymus glad removed, had turned into five.
It’s kind of hard to shower when you’re not only hooked up to an IV, but have chest tubes and a heavy drainage box attached to you as well.
I was likewise extremely nauseous and having terrible stomach cramps, as well throwing up & having diarrhea (sorry, just keeping it real, folks.),  not to mention the fact that because of the way I felt, putting on make-up wasn’t even an option.
Truthfully, I looked and smelled more like a homeless person than a southern girl who takes pride in her outward appearance.

Also, my legs would shake uncontrollably any time I tried to move them after the surgery. The on-staff neurologist was concerned and communicated that she didn’t believe it was from the myasthenia gravis, so she ordered an MRI. As I lay there battling the physical symptoms, I fought anxious thoughts as well.  Perhaps they would discover yet another neurological problem on top of my myasthenia gravis and seizure disorder.

It was a dark time, and Satan was right there telling me that I was going to feel that way forever. I came to the point that I didn’t have the strength to read my Bible or pray in a  linear way. I could only cry out for mercy and quote some of my favorite Scriptures over & over. The Holy Spirit likewise brought to remembrance that I had lots of friends, family, and precious groups believing in me and praying for me when I didn’t have the strength.

I just want to thank my church family (Westminster Chapel).
My ladies Bible study.
Jo Ann Fore’s Book Launch Team.
My amazing family.
And lastly, my new friends at Church 4 Chicks.
Your faith carried me through, when mine was weak.

Please rejoice with me that I am healing beautifully.  Also, other than some issues that can be taken care of by a chiropractor, the MRI was normal and the “shakes” are long gone.  Please continue to pray with me that the surgery will be effective to send the MG into permanent remission and bring complete deliverance from the seizures.

The Lord has laid a couple of verses upon my heart.

1) Mark 2:3: (NASB)
“And they came, bringing to Him a paralytic, carried by four men.”
Dear Ones, Thank you for carrying me before the throne when I was too weary to carry myself.
2) Proverbs 31: 30 (NASB)
“Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.”
Please remember that the outward may be stripped away at any moment. Please find your confidence in the inner beauty, which is what our God delights in!

Rejoicing in the grace of our glorious God.
